Gas Prices, Unmployment.

2. What is your view/position on the problem or situation?
Gas prices are just being hiked up due to dept and the gov wanting more money in there pocket. Unemploment is the goverments lack of suppling jobs.
3. What would you like to achieve with your editorial? (What is the desired result?)

To make a humorous play on the goverment, with a picture or writing

Puppy Inasanity

            Walking into a store filled with tons of ridiculous items, and necessities for dogs, cats, fish, and reptiles just about any kind of animal, tends to make your head spin. However I walked into this random madness during puppy socialization, a time were puppies can romp around and chew on each other and people can watch from the sidelines with cameras and well frankly like me a notebook and a pen to write it all down.  

            There were 6 dogs in total, most of them golden’s little fluffy golden’s, and little pugs, party poodles, and cockers. All of which it didn’t seem to matter because they were all puppies looking for some fun and Petco is where they found it.

I talked to the manger about why they host this event and she gave me several reasons one it seems was to boost sales seeing adorable little puppies may make you want to buy something for your pet. Second dog parks are unsafe and not controlled so Petco offers a safe environment to bring your puppy to play. Third it helps those people to sign up for puppy classes after seeing the free course.

            Overall this puppy socialization looked like a fun experience that was exactly as the manger had said it was a controlled environment because every time a puppy peed on the floor the dogs were called back and the mess was cleaned up. It was also a small fenced on area where they were playing so they didn’t escape.

            Also although the class was free when I stopped a woman who had gone outside to let her golden go potty, if I could ask her questions she said yes but was fidgety to get back because class was still going. So I asked her about this class and why she was so eager to get back she responded by saying that her dog used to pee all over the couch before she got home for work, and chew up her shoes, whoever now because of the socialization class her dog has shown improvement and less bad behavior. I was curious as to how just socialization can help and dog and the trainer at Petco explained that all puppies have pent up energy which usually comes out in bad behavior. He explained to me how walks and playing can help but what puppies really need is to socialize.

            This is a highly recommended course for all puppies, but even if you don’t have a puppy coming to this class just to see them romp around is equally as beneficial. There was a woman there who asked not to be named, but she had a son that had trouble with dogs and the new couple had wanted one for a while so they brought the autistic child to the puppy classes so he could get used to the dogs, and a month after the classes they bought a Terrier that is a happy part of their family, that they bring to the classes now.

            Lilly is the dog’s name and the boy enjoys playing with Lilly with no problems now because of the class. I asked him how he feels about dogs now and he just looked and me and kissed Lilly and that was all I needed to know he wasn’t scared anymore.

The New Dating World

               

The new teenage generation has left many trying to navigate the dating world confused. Between words like “going out” and “hooking up” what do all these terms mean,

 Going out based upon cumulative interviews confirm that it is today is two people with a mutual affection hanging out, but over 30 years ago it was two people that knew each other and were serious about each other hanging out. “Hooking up” however is just another new term that today teens have made up, what does this  mean, well according to Aubrey a 17 year old at Eastview High School a

“Hook up is a one night stand, something that maybe is a mistake you will do again and again.”

Interestingly enough some just a year ahead of her 18 year old Philip defines a “hook-up” as

“Getting together with a girl for one night, but doesn’t entail sex”

, and finally according to 52 year old Diane when she was young a “hook up” was

“After a dance going out to a burger joint with a boy”

The differences in statements all have to do with different, generations.  Back in the 70’s the word

“hook-up” wasn’t even used, and today if someone walks up to you and asks you out, and “

“you’ve only know them for a day if you like them enough you’ll say yes and all of a sudden you’re “dating”.  According to 18 year old Philip.

Over 30 years can cause a huge difference, but this new technology era of teens are causing communication between two people to become far apart, which I believe is what is causing the changes between knowing who you are dating, and getting to know them as a friend as you date them something I call a “dating friend” .

Not only is this new generation changing the way the “terms” used for dating, but also they are changing the term dating itself.

“A date is two people being together” Philip.

However according to Diane “its two people hanging out alone”

Now wither or not preferring to be alone on a “date” is your “thing” or not, I personally would not want to be in front of people well trying to be intimate with another human being.

Some of the huge changes in dating terms and the word dating itself is a cause of technology and music.

Technology allows you to talk to a person 24/7 leaving some mystery of not knowing the person to go away completely, and I believe there is such a thing as knowing the person to much, and tending to get tired of them.

Texting according to article base.com accounts to 40% of miscommunication in relationships. This just goes to show that over 30 years ago that 40% didn’t exist, and relationships had a lot better of a chance to reduce that miscommunication.

Also music today has become more then ever a way to increase teenage hormones which are already raging with titles such as “I just has sex” and “best I’ve ever had" leading to more one night stands or “hook ups” rather than a meaningful relationship.  

Making people more aware of the ever changing dating world is just one thing we can can to to integrate more knowledge of the ever changing world around teens.
